In the north, the boundary is the mountain of ‘Lumang’,wherin behind the mountain is the province of Kalinga.
The name “Butac” was derived from the native language ‘nabta’ which means ‘broken’. In one occasion in this place, the people cooked in a vat (“martafe”) but they were surprised when it was broken and this was strange thing to happen. One day a person ask his companion where he’s going and he answered, ‘I’m going to ‘Feta’ {a place where the vat (“martafe”)was broken). From the time on, they called this place ’Feta’, then later on ’Butac’.
